Tips for Creating a Value Statement for your Company

In today’s job market, with unemployment at an all-time low, we find that it is the talent that is in the driver’s seat. Your job as the employer in attracting quality talent is to really hone in on what makes your company special and why your employees love working there. Here are our tips to get you thinking about your organization’s Value Statement.

Be specific in your statement

Be able to recite specific reasons why employees enjoy working at your company. Great medical benefits, while important, are not enough to attract quality talent. Think deeper, what about your benefits offering excites your employees? For example, is there unlimited PTO? 100% paid-for healthcare benefits for employees? Certifications and training? Education reimbursement? Dig deep here and even ask for a breakdown from your HR department to really define what is offered at your company that makes it special.

Display how your employees are incentivized

Are there merit bonuses? Spot bonuses? Opportunities for advancement? Be able to state how many of your employees have recently earned promotions and what it took to achieve the advancement. Be able to state rewards given for superior performance.

Team culture

Culture is found to be a major reason why a lot of employees stay with their current company. Is there a Monday team meeting where you review wins from the week prior? Do you have a quarterly event where teams come together for something like a bowling outing? And finally, the most asked question among candidates: Is there Work from Home potential? Be honest on this one, how often are your employees able to work remotely? Is it part of the company culture or something that is generally disliked by hiring managers? Expect to have to answer this question, particularly in today’s job market.

Provide a challenge

Be able to discuss an overview of projects, tools, and company goals that this individual will be working toward. Many employees today are looking to leave their current role because they’re not feeling challenged. Be able to relay this in detail.

Company mission

Employees want to know that they stand behind something in line with their moral values. Employees and consultants/temps spend 40+ hours per week working and they want to know that their work contributes to a bigger picture. Stating the company mission in your Value Statement can be a big attraction.

Other perks

Does the company offer free-lunch-Fridays? Is there a ping pong table in the break room? Do employees have stand up desks? Is there a gym onsite? Free coffee? Discounts for nearby restaurants and coffee shops? These are perks we’ve seen with our clients, small and large, they can add extra incentives to the job seeker to choose your company over another offer.

We hope this helps you with ways to attract the best candidates to add value to your awesome company. Contact On Cue Hire to start your search for top talent.
